Captain Morgan’s Original Spiced Rum is a Puerto Rican golden rum flavored with spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg that gives it its rich spicy honey flavor. This makes it perfect for mixing different rum drinks. It is named after a Caribbean Welsh privateer named Sir Henry Morgan in the 17th century. The rich amber color is gotten from the dark molasses. This is definitely not your ho-hum boring rum. It is sweet but not overwhelming. The flavorful spices still come through even mixed with other brews.
Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum comes from distilled sugar cane. The yeast combinations, distillation process, and blending and aging conditions determine the rum flavor’s characteristics. The ingredients are water, mash, yeast and molasses is distilled by continuous still. After distillation, the aging process begins in oak aged barrels for up to a year which adds the golden color and rum character before the spices are added. During the final stages of production, the indigenous Caribbean spices are then added for that Captain Morgan distinct flavor.
I heard that Matthew Jukes, the wine expert, was going to be at an event near my house, so I am going to go there just to see him speak. I really look up to the guy, and he always has great advice for the wine lover like me! Sometimes I see that there are things in life that are more interesting to me than other subjects. Wine happens to be something that I am interested in, so I have invested a great deal of money and time into it. I just think that, if I make time for the things in life that I like, I won’t regret ignoring the rest of the stuff that I don’t really care for. People are always telling me to go out and try new things, but I know what I like so I am just going to stick to it! It’s better to enjoy one thing fully than many things partially.
